Mensa AU Fic Exchange

Welcome to the Mensa AU Fic Exchange!

Please read the short but hopefully informative rules bit below and then make your requests in a comment to this post. You can also post any questions here or email the mods at mensaverse@gmail.com.

Sign-ups are open until Monday 5th March at 6pm GMT. (ETA: Sign-ups closed now!) Assignments will be out as quickly as possible after that, hopefully the same evening.

Stories are due on or before Monday 23rd April (minimum word count: 1,000 words). You should submit them by sending them to mensaverse@gmail.com.

Stories will be posted anonymously to the community by the mods from 24th to 30th April with a poll for readers to guess the writer (multiple choice, nice and easy!). The masterlist will be posted on May 1st with the writers named, and particpants will be free to post to their own journals/sites from then on.

As with the community itself, all stories should contain at least one Mensa AU character. Stories requested may be gen or contain a pairing, and all participants must make three requests.

Ok, whee, I'm totally signing up. But I'm not normally a fic exchange person, so can you clarify for me: the three requests--is that three different stories? or three different pairings? Like, what's the goal of the three requests? Also, does Mensa!John/Mensa!Rodney, Mensa!John/Rodney, and Mensa!Rod/John count as three requests? Do they need descriptions additionally? Buh, huh?

Basically, you give three prompts, each for a different story, and your writer will pick one of them to write for you. That makes it easier to match people than if there were just one request, and it gives your writer more options. You can just give a character, a pairing and some kind of prompt for each request (to give your writer something to go on), or you can give a more detailed scenario (like, say, you want to see how Mensa!Shep met Rodney for the first time, or maybe how our Shep would react to Mensa!Shep, or anything else you can think of). Does that help?

Hmmm not sure I understand the three different requests thing....??? Is that three different pairings? What if you only want one pairing? (or, like Cesperanza asked, are the John/Rodney/Mensa!John/Mensa!Rod combination pairings considered three different pairings?) Three different scenarios?

Maybe you could elaborate a bit on the why fors of the three request thing? *g*

I just replied to Ces above. :-) Basically, the three requests are there to give your author some options if you want to request specific scenarios, and also to make it easier for us to match people by giving some variety. I'd say the pairings you're talking about would be different pairings, but you can ask for the same pairing three times if you like. The only thing we ask is that you don't request the exact same thing three times, because see above - variety is the point. Does that help?
