Aw, this was great! The idea of Sam asking for Rod’s autograph is priceless! Some of the bits I liked best:
Sam's subsequent squeal and happy-dance had brought both Dr. Leigh and Cameron rushing into her lab
As for Rod, the man had his uses after all and John had no intention to go and break in another department head.
Lt. Colonel Smiley Face
If John would ever deign to speak to him again, he was so in for it.
And in the end, what did if matter if John didn't believe in anything that wasn't provable, couldn't be caught and calculated on paper... for this he'd just received all the proof he would ever need.
And I liked the way Rod showed his trust by dropping the mask around John, and how they finally 'found' each other in the end. And did I detect a hint of Sam/Cam? *g*
I'm so glad you liked it. I wasn't sure if you'd rather wanted crack-fic, which Sam simply didn't co-operate with ;) I imagined her a bit like she was in the alternate reality in 'Moebius' only without the glasses and with a gun.
As for John and Rod, the scenes with the both of them and the 'clearing up of things', were actually the ones I spent the most time with. I do think that the Rod as we saw him in 'McKay and Mrs. Miller', had some issues concerning the interaction with others, they just weren't so obvious and made him seem very amiable and easy-going to the casual eye. When you consider what the team had to say about him after he'd left though...
And yes, you detected correctly. I just love happy endings, so I had to at least hint at a happy ending for Sam as well, after all I've done to her :)
I really enjoyed writing this and imagining what the characters could be like.
