I have no idea who wrote any of these, but I'm really enjoying this challenge. Very nice...I like the interactions between them, the slow build to John eventually exploding, and the glimpses of the rest of the mensau atlantis team.
I really love it. The appropriate amount of John angst - always nice - plus a bewildered Rodney, yay.
- When John pulled back he smiled at Rod fondly. “The great, unflappable Rod McKay. Mr. Cool. The biggest flirt in two galaxies. You are such a phony.” -
Yes, I can see it. Rod being the clueless one, despite the leather jacket and the cool talk in the 'other' Atlantis...
I love that you've given the other team members cameo-appearances, too. Ronon simply drinking the ceremonial cup dry, while John and Rodney squabble in the background, heh.
Yay! I'm so glad you like it! I tried really hard to write it from John's POV but he refused to cooperate. That line of John's is one of my favorites too. Underneath all that cool, Rod's just a guy like everybody else. :o)

Heh, I know how that works, happens to me every so often too. And I really don't mind that it's not John POV, the story is great and does the characters justice, that's all a good story needs IMO. I'm all for letting your creativity run wild as long as it get's this kind of result. After all, you as the author should enjoy the creative process as well as I, the reader, the finished product. ;-)
Okay, I have a soft spot for oblivious!Rodney - but oblivious!Rod is almost even more awesome! He's so slick on the surface, but beneath? The same old Rodney, and somehow the contrast really works for me. You bring it out really well!
Thanks for the great feedback! I do like the idea the Rod's slick surface is hiding the same doubts and insecurities as Rodney. He just hides them better. I'm glad it worked for you. :o)
Oooh. I really like poor, frustrated, repressed John. And their eventual coming together was so sweet. I mean, not an "aww..." kinda thing, but rich and well-earned. Yay!
Rod shrugged. “It’s only been a couple of days. You couldn’t have missed me that much already.”
He wasn’t looking, so a choked noise was the only warning he got. John lunged at Rod. Dropping his sticks, he gripped Rod’s shirt in both fists and shoved, their momentum carrying Rod backwards until his back hit the wall. “Fuck you!” John shouted. “Don’t you dare tell me how to feel!”
